During the 2022 election, the narrative that took up almost the whole narrative of the election, was that created by the development industry, no doubt with plenty of help from well heeled Public Relations companies – that of inclusionary zoning and so-called missing middle housing.

Now that those have been not just delivered, but forced through Bill 44, we can see what they really meant by that.

The following is a textbook example of the real world result of industry/political doublespeak.

If it was clear from the beginning, inclusive zoning for the development industry was a way of getting special access to neighbourhoods, so that they could advance luxury developments at increase intensity and magnify their profits.

The environment suffered and they gained.

As they say: “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me”.

It’s time overdue for the public to see the trickery from the development industry for what it is. They will use the same public relations tricks over and over again to achieve their objectives. The result will come at nature’s expense.
