How Citizens Took Back Democracy in Saanich – Interview of Save Our Saanich on Canada Citizen’s Forum

“In this episode of Canada Citizens Forum, we spotlight a powerful citizens-led movement in Saanich, British Columbia, where locals stopped a $150 million city project by pushing back against an undemocratic approval process. When city council tried to bypass a referendum using the Alternative Approval Process (AAP), citizens like Nancy and Matt mobilized their neighbours, gathered signatures, and reignited democratic engagement.”

I can’t say that I did that much work on this, other than promote the AAPs to a wide online audience. Better credits go to the Save Our Saanich volunteers who did a vast amount of much appreciated ground work without which I don’t think this ever would have been achieved.
