CRD Watch started out as a Facebook Page that rapidly grew to 250 members, as the people living in the CRD shared numerous concerns, mainly due to rapid environmentally damaging development, perceived undue political influence from the development/real estate lobby, and declining avenues for public participation in local government.

CRD Watch quickly gained a reputation for covering important issues that the local news media in Greater Victoria would not.

CRD Watch would like to continue that tradition with a new blog that in turn will be transformed into a full website covering such local issues. Public participation and democracy is most welcomed here, even as it steadily declines in the political institutions of the CRD and the local governments that fall under it.

WordPress is a great platform. It’s not expensive to get your own domain name and pay for the basic ad free version.
