The CRD has refused to provide full scrutiny of its felling of trees in the Elk/Beaver Lake Regional park, without an expensive charge for so-called freedom of information.

Although falling within the bounds of the District of Saanich. The CRD is charged with managing the park.

At one point the CRD even claimed the felling of trees in the park was under the auspices of Saanich, something Saanich was quick to deny.
