Welcome to CRD Watch (Capital Regional District of Greater Victoria Watch)

CRD Watch is independent and is not affiliated with the regional government, the CRD. CRD Watch, provides coverage regarding the CRD, and the area of the Capital Region.

CRD Watch started out as a Facebook Page that rapidly grew, as the people living in the CRD shared numerous concerns; mainly due to rapid environmentally damaging development, perceived undue political influence from the development/real estate lobby, and declining avenues for public participation in local government.

CRD Watch quickly gained a reputation for covering important issues that the local news media in Greater Victoria would not.

CRD Watch continues that tradition with a new website covering such critically important local issues that affect us all. Public participation and democracy is most welcomed here, even as it steadily declines in the political institutions of the CRD and the local governments that fall under it.

The CRD Watch website offers the chance to build a genuine non-corporate local media and provide a venue for citizen journalism for the Greater Victoria Region.

CRD Watch’s success with the public, led also to the creation of Capital Region Watch on Community Television

Writers and those with other forms of creativity are most welcomed and encouraged to contribute to CRD Watch. Together we can make a thriving local forum a reality, and help make public-led democracy a reality in the region.

If you would like to contribute writings, or other material, or any ideas in general, please don’t hesitate to contact: CRDWatch@mail.com

Thank you.
