Langford Council ends the City’s UDI membership.

Today I was informed by Councillor Harder from Langford that the City has decided to withdraw from the UDI.

The Motion to withdraw was put forward by Councillor Wagner and seconded by Councillor Szpak at the Monday March 23, 2026 Committee of the Whole.

All the councillors voted in favour of the City’s withdrawal from the lobbying organization.

Only Mayor Goodmanson voted to oppose withdrawal from the lobby, making him the second elected official on Vancouver Island to vote to continue a municipality’s membership in the UDI.

The City of Colwood is now the only municipality that is still a member of the UDI on Vancouver Island.

Recently Colwood Councillor Ward put forward a Motion for the municipality to terminate its UDI membership, which is scheduled to take place in April.
