District of Saanich once again experiencing technical issues. Jan 19, 2026 Draft Quadra McKenzie Plan session at council still unavailable on video almost a week later.

This is no idle issue, council is likely to make a decision on the meeting item, in early February, with a video showing considerable public opposition to the plan, not being visible to the public.

UPDATE: The video is now available online on the Saanich website after a week. (Jan 27, 2026)

Now over a month later a video of an important Saanich meeting on Jan 19, 2026 is at the time of writing unavailable to the public.

Last month, I wrote the following article about a meeting, which was not broadcasted on Saanich’s website (see image above), although it was available crystal clear on MS Teams. Saanich claimed a technical glitch, which you can read about in the link below.

Fast forward to Jan 19, 2026 the highly controversial Quadra/McKenzie Plan was to go before the public at the Saanich Committee of the Whole that evening. The public were given 3 minutes per person to speak on it.

The video broadcast live that night, but according to Saanich a technical problem has prohibited it from being posted on the Saanich website.

The video/audio recording is now almost a week later on Jan 25, 2026 not available for viewing on Saanich’s website.

With a new system recently implemented many people do not intuitively know where to find the archived agendas, videos and minutes of meetings of council. Previously it was available on the agendas page, but at the time of writing it is not on that page, but can be reached by clicking a link on that page.
