Saanich Road Diet Hypocrisy

While Saanich council and engineering are putting you on a “road” diet, Saanich council and staff continue to “binge” on available parking at Saanich municipal hall.

Perhaps they should lead by example and remove all parking for employees at Saanich Municipal Hall this winter as a test to gauge the “temperature” of the employees.

BTW – I am not calling out Saanich staff, I respect their choice of transportation. I am calling out Saanich council and engineering department who force these unwanted changes on the tax payers who are directly affected – such as those on Mann Ave and Tillicum Road.

    I have been wondering how Saanich Council and staff get to work. From the commentary by Alex Cook it doesn’t sound like they are using bikes. If they are, how did their bikes get to the bike stores? If they’re not using bikes, why not?

      My point is that Saanich is expecting its citizens to change their forms of transportation – and go on a “road diet” while their own employees get the benefit of free parking – which comes from the thinking “Do as I say – not as I do”

      I put a challenge out to councilors to see who would be brave enough to extend the same courtesy to their employees as they did to Mann Ave residents – by implementing a monthly parking fee ($300 + per month is the going rate) and hourly parking for guests – and do this without any notice to employees- and without having any way for them to dispute it if they disagree. This is exactly what they did to Mann Ave residents

      I am merely pointing out the hypocrisy of our local government.
